I bought these Essence Nail Art Twins Reloaded purely because of the name. Edward and Bella. I saw there are 3 duos for this Twins Reloaded line at the shop I bought them from. Not sure if there's more than these shades. The other ones are Romeo/Juliet (purple) and Carrie/Mr. Big (Pink).

Each of the duo has a Base Colour and a Glitter Topper. The Base Colours have cream finish and the Toppers are clear top coat with glitters in them.

Edward is a cream periwinkle blue. Very pretty even on its own. And, Bella has blue, silver & black glitters.

Edward applies very easily and not streaky at all. The two shades coordinate very well together. I think they can wear alone or together. I can see Bella goes with other nail polished I've already got.

This is the 1st time I tried nail polishes from Essence and I'm very happy with them. They're only NZ$4 each. Very affordable compared to OPI & Essie which are RRP NZ$24. I would definitely try more of their nail colours in the future.

A trip to The Warehouse (NZ Discounted Store) means checking out Covergirl products. Not many places you can find Covergirl in NZ & The Warehouse often has good deals on offer.

I've been wanting to try Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation since I first saw it on itsjudytime's 1st impression video a while back. It's a foundation that claims to have combined primer, foundation & concealer in one bottle. It sounds very promising and I've heard so many good reviews about it. I bought it in the shade 805 Ivory. I find it's a tad too light for my light/medium skin. The pink undertone is also a little more than what I prefer. But that's what you get when buying drugstore makeups. It's "like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get" (a quote from Forrest Gump, the movie). Full of surprises & disappointments.

The other thing I bought is Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Coral Twist. It comes in a big pencil shape tube. If you're familiar with jumbo gloss sticks in the market, eg. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains or Clinique Chubby Sticks, you'll know what this product is. The colour shown on the lid is not as bright as the actual shade but it's still pretty & very wearable. It's a bright pinky coral which is great for Summer (It's Spring/Summer here in NZ). I don't notice any scent from this lip gloss. It glides on the lips very well. The texture is very lightweight (lighter than Revlon Balm Stains). So it feels very comfortable on the lips.

By the way, The Warehous has NZ$5 OFF All Covergirl products until 24th December 2013. I think it's a good time to buy both for yourself or as stocking stuffers.

The other day I was a little bored, so I decided to play with my makeup stash & do some swatches. I thought it would be good as a reference for myself & for you guys who have the same or similar skin tone as me. My arm is about NC20-25. My face is a bit darker and usually NC25-30 (depends on which foundation I use).

I hope this swatch comparison helps you selecting the right shade for your concealer next time you hit the shop.

From Left to Right

Bobbi Brow Corrector (Peach)
TheBalm Time Balm Concealer (Light/Medium)
MAC Select Moisturecover (NW25)
Missha The Style Under Eye Brightner (yes, it spells like this on the package)
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
AVON Extra Lasting Concealer (Medium)
Revlon PhotoReady Concealer (Light Medium)
AVON Concealer Stick (Neutral)

I've bought these item from Apotheka (previously known as Glamourpuss). They're having a massive sale on Becca & Mario Badescu discontinued products. They're still have some items left, you can check them out here

I love Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. Despite the funky smell and an unusual application, it does work. Their Seaweed Cleansing Soap is also my favourite as a morning cleanser.

Anyway, let's see what I've got for this haul......

Mario Badescu Orange Cleansing Soap (Sale price NZ$10, was RRP NZ$24) - It has a light & clean citrus scent with exfoliating AHAs. It's a non-soap formula, so if you like your cleanser to foaming up this is not for you. It removes dirt, oil & makeup (light makeup only). My face is clean without feeling tight on the skin. I've been using it as my morning cleanser & I like it so far.

Mario Badescu Glycolic Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion (Sale price NZ$10, was RRP NZ$35) - With AHAs and Glycolic Acid, it claims to prevent dullness and breakouts, reduce dead skin build-up for radiant glow. This toner is a little bit strong & can dry-out your skin. I'm switching it between my trusty Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent & Clinique Clarifying Lotion

Becca Fine Loose Finishing Powder in Cardamon (Sale price NZ$15, I'm not sure what the full price was) - I bought this powder to use as a bronzer as they didn't have it in my shade. Cardamon is a few shades darker than my skin which works perfectly for what I got it for. It's finely milled powder and blends very easily.

I think this purchase was such a great deal from the brands I love. I also like visiting their store in Newmarket (Auckland). Friendly staffs and very keen to help. Apotheka offers free shipping for all orders which always a bonus. Totally satisfied!

My current obsession is everything ribbons & bows. They're dainty & super cute on everything: jeweleries, shirts, sweaters, skirts, dresses or shoes. They add a feminine touch to any outfit. I love them!

Who doesn't like Online shops, with free shipping & returns, are a dream-comes-true. Especially if you live in a country where fashion/beauty items are ridiculously expensive (like NZ where I am).

1) A leather jacket & a funky top added an edgy touch to these lady-like Peg-Pants and heels. And, the Hunter Green gives an interesting look to the outfit.

2) Love the deep V & roomy Blouse. The wrapped front, the yellow print & the roll-up sleeves makes it stand-out.

3) A Tartan skirt with a black sweater. Cute but also sexy when teamed with a pair of black patent lace-up heels.

4) A cut-off shoulder Shirt with a pair of Tailored Shorts. Showing enough skin but not too much for chilly Spring in NZ.

5) A basic navy Sequin Knitted Jumper teamed with a (real or faux) leather Mini Skirt. Give this look a perfect contrast between different fabric textures.

6) A white singlet, a pair of black Shorts with belted waist & a pair of killer strapy heels. It's simple & elegant!

7) The black leather-look Skirt is a perfect match to this vintage rusty Silk Shirt. A great work outfit.

8) I love teal! This Midi Skirt with rip waist and front zip detail is such a great piece to add teal to Spring wardrobe.

After hearing so many positive reviews about Essence Cosmetics, I'm so thrilled to know that has finally arrived in NZ. I came across their products at Price Wise but the SA told me that Essence products are going to be available at Farmers soon.
I wasn't expecting to run into Essence stands that day. I didn't have anything in mind about what I wanted to get. I just randomly picked a few things that caught my eyes. Just before went to the cashier, I remembered MissTango2 mentioned about how much she loves the Longlasting Lipglosses. So I picked those up, too.

and here's what I bought.....

get BIG! lashes Volume Boost Waterproof Mascara: They have a good variety of mascaras. I always use waterproof & I wanted to find something as good as Maybelline The Falsies. It was my pick for mascara.

Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss: If I'm not wrong, they have 6 shades available. The shades I have are (top t- bottom) Candy Bar - a bright coral red, Me & My Ice Cream - a pale peachy pink, and Pretty Witty - a medium fuchsia.

Make-up Sponge: Yes! A Beauty Blender look-a-like. I've never tried a Beauty Blender so I won't be doing a comparison of the 2. I usually use a Sigma F80 for my foundation. I'll see if this sponge will give me any better results than the Sigma brush.

Liquid Ink Waterproof Eyeliner: I never have much luck when it comes to liquid eyeliners. I always go back to my good old MAC Fluidline. I picked this liner because it's only N$5. It has a very small & precise brush which I like.

Souffle Touch Blush: This blush has a mousse texture. I've got it in the shade called Cold Wildberry. It's a mid-tone pink with a hint of blue & purple. It has a baby soap/lotion scent which is not a bad thing. But if you're sensitive to strong scents, you might want to stay away from this blush.

Match2Cover! Cream Concealer: The packaging caught my eyes. It looks similar to Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit. Essence Creamy Concealer has 2 shades of concealer which you can mix to match your skin tone.

That's it for another post of P-Haul series. Please wait for more in-depth reviews on these goodies.

In NZ, you can fine Mavala products at Farmers, Unichem, Radius, Life Pharmacy and other local chemists. Their nail colours come in a cute 5ml. bottle at NZ$9-$10. I happened to find these lot at Price Wise for $1 each. They don't have the full range but a rather good selection: Pastels, Glitters, Bolds etc.

The brush application works well. Some appears streakier than the other but nothing major. I really like the small size bottle & the under NZ$10 price. Instead of buying an OPI for NZ$24.50, I can get 2 of Mavalas!! A girl can never have too many nail polishes, right? Also, a small size means I'm more likely to finish them before they are dried out. I always wonder when I am going to finish any of my full size bottles.

Platinum Marble has a shimmery finish. It has a hard-to-describe shade of pink, beige, grey & purple. It goes on quite sheer. I think it would look the same as in the bottle with at least 4 layers.(2 coats)

Denim Blue is a metallic navy blue. Nothing much to say about this one. Just that I love it. (2 coats)

Aquamarine is a pastel mint green with very subtle green, blue & silver shimmers. It has a cream finish. Many people think that it's a dupe for Channel polish in Jade.

Vertigo Red is a jewel tone red with pearly finish. I don't own many red nail colours but this is a kind of red I wear. Not too bright. Not too too dark. Just the right shade to give that polishes & sophisticated look. (2 coats)

Racing Green is a creamy dark hunter green. Out of this bunch, this is the one I love the most. It's really opaque & very easy to apply. (1 coat)

Original photo from  from American's Next Top Model. Edited by me.

Greed : What is your most expensive/inexpensive beauty product?

At NZ$89, I think NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is my current most expensive beauty product. But my all-time most expensive beauty product would be the 1st NAKED palette. I remember it sold out everywhere & I found this seller on ebay have it & they offer international shipping. I ended up paying nearly NZ$120 for it.

And, the most inexpensive items I own are Mavala Nail Polishes. I've just got them a week ago. They're usually NZ$9.95 but I bought them at NZ$5 for 5 from Price Wise (a discount store in Ponsonby). I thought my favourite AVON Care Lip Balm (NZ$1.30) was the cheapest but these polishes are as good as I can get for any good quality beauty products.

Wrath : What product do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Pigments or Loose Eye Shadows. They're extremely messy but always have the most gorgeous shades you can never get from pressed eye shadows. You have to give pigments two thumbs up when it comes to being unique & more affordable (you can get sample size jars/baggies of pigments but no one will sell you 1/4 of a pan of an eye shadow, right?)

Gluttony : What are your most delicious beauty products?

1) Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion - It's like slathering chocolate on my skin.
2) LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel - Sweet & Fruity. I feel like showering with candy floss.
3) Honey - It's literally delicious! I use honey in my DIY Skin Exfoliator & Face Mask.

Sloth : What products do you neglect due to laziness?

Eye cream and Toner are the 2 products I tend to skip the most. These items are something I think that are gimmicks. I believe that if I clean my face properly with a good makeup remover and/or a good cleanser, and followed by raising with warm water or wiping with a warm face cloth. There's no need for a toner. The same goes for eye creams. A good moisturizer should take care all of the areas on your face. If you think your moisturizer is too thick/heavy for your eye areas, it probably too thick/heavy for your whole face.

Pride : What product gives you the most confidence?

Hands down, BB Cream. It's a great item to have for a rushing morning when I don't have enough time for a primer, a foundation & a concealer. It evens out skin tone, conceals imperfections, contains SPF, moisturizes & long lasting. Just this one product and I can leave the house knowing I'm still presentable.

Lust : What attributes do you find attractive in the opposite sex?

I've got 5 words for you: Clean, Slim, Dimples, Style & Laughs

Envy : What products would you like to receive as a gift?

I would definitely love to get any of Jo Malone colognes as a gift. They have the most elegant & unique scents. The idea of fragrance combining is what makes me want to own them. I can create different aromas to suit my mood, my outfit and events eg. wedding or birthday bash. I've tried samples & visited the store. But every time I have an urge to buy something from them. I just can't justify to pay over NZ$300 for a 100ml of perfume, EVER. Not to mention those NZ$130 candles.
So, these are my sins. What are yours?

Definitely a BIG miss for me for these sneaker wedges. Want the height - wear heels. Want the comfort - wear flats or normal sneakers. I have to confess that there was at one point when I look at them & thought, Should I buy one of these? Maybe they're cool?  Maybe I can wear it right? Are you sure they're  lots of celebs are wearing them? But every time, the answers was NO, NO, NO and NO. They look hideous. Just the same as how I feel about Uggs (in public) & Crocs (anywhere!). Oh well, unless you're a 10 yrs old or were Kate Moss!

If you like watching beauty videos on youtube, you probably know who BubzBeauty or Bubbi is. She has that pearly white skin & cute innocent look that most Asian girls are dying to have. Well, I've only watched a few of her videos, mostly makeup tutorials & beauty tips. If you're into Asian beauty/fashion trends, you're gonna love her videos.

Anyway, the other day I checked out her website & saw that she has an online store selling a small number of fashion & beauty items. I had my eyes on her makeup brushes but wanted to do a bit of research before I make a purchase. And guess what? A few days later, one of my favourite youtubers, Sam of Saaammage, uploaded a video reviewing these brushes. The review gave me more confident & I decided to get a few of them to try out.

I ordered 2 brushes: a HD Flawless Brush & a Dome Brush. It took 7 working days for the order to arrive (Hong Kong to NZ). They came in a small padded envelope with a postcard size note from Bubbi. Each brush comes in an individual clear plastic sleeve. The lovely black handle & a bright pink ferrule looks very pretty & girly. Love it!

HD Flawless Brush is made with synthetic bristles. It's very soft but dense which I think is great for applying cream & liquid products. I bought this brush specifically to use as a concealer brush under my eyes. I've tried it with  a cream (TheBalm Time Balm Concealer) & a liquid (MAC Select Moisturecover) concealer, and it works really well with both. The angled surface makes the blending very easy. The brush looks pretty small compare to my other foundation brushes but somehow it didn't take me any more time to apply my foundation than using the other ones.

Dome Brush has a tapered top & is made with natural bristles. It's medium size, in between powder brush & blush brush. This soft & fluffy brush is to use with loose or pressed powder by tapping the product on the skin to set the makeup. The pointed top fits just right under the cheek bones which makes it perfect as a contour brush.

"Always wash your new makeup brush(es) before the 1st use"

"So I did!"

During the first wash, Both brushes didn't have colour-bleeding when washed. However, Dome Brush had a few shredded bristles (None for the HD Flawless Brush) but it hasn't shredded any since. I think they were just some loose bristles, nothing's major.

Have you ever looked at the list of ingredients on the side of a toothpaste? If you have, you would probably have a question like me. Why do they put so many things in there? Most of which I can't even pronounce and many of them don't have very good reputations of being good for your health eg. SLS & Triclosan. Especially now that there's many studies about Fluoride, that it might be bad for you. It makes me wonder why I want to put these chemicals in my mouth (and possibly my stomach) at least twice a day.

So, I decided to make my own toothpaste with only a few ingredients most of which I can find in my kitchen & in my bathroom cabinet.

Here's what you need:

6 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp Glycerin
3 Tbsp Baking Soda
1 Tbsp Salt
(I use sea salt but normal table salt would do)
1 Tsp Hydrogen Peroxide
(This is for whitening benefit. You can leave it out)
A few drop of liquid Stevia
(or a sachet of Stevia)
A few drops of Peppermint essence/oil

Mix everything together in a clear container with a lid. This should last for a few months.

It takes a while to get used to this kind of toothpaste; no bubbles and less cooling sensation. But I can tell you that I feel my teeth are as clean as using the normal toothpaste. The difference is that I know what's in there and they're safe for me.

If I were Cinderella, I wouldn't care for a pair of glass slippers! There are too many of gorgeous stilettos out there, that are way way way sexier & (probably) more comfortable than the fairy tale heels.

Here's a few of my DREAM shoes:

1) A pair of Christian Louboutin's Lady Peep pumps. Though, I wouldn't want to have a surgery to remove my bunions like VB. But If I have been given a pair of these beauties, I wouldn't wait, for a second, to say Yes! The spell of that signature Red sole always stops my heart.

 2) If I could pick only ONE pair of heels to wear for the rest of my life, these nude Manolo Blahnik's BB pumps would be it. The 4" classic pumps, inspired by Brigitte Bardot, will go with nearly everything you have in the wardrobe: skirts, jeans or tailored pants. I've been in love with them since I saw SJP worn them on Sex & The City.

3) You might be familiar with those cute Kitty flats that every female celebs seem to be waring. Charlotte Olympia's shoes are everywhere! But my pick would be these Paloma heels. The blue is my most favourite. The simple but yet seductive & sophisticated. Just looking at them makes me feel sexy & I'm serious!

All of these shoes are ridiculously expensive and that's the reason why they're my "dream" shoes. If I ever had enough money to own all these, I didn't think I can justify buying something for my feet with that kind of prices.

I have to tell you that I'm instantly in love with this nail colour. When I looked at the AVON brochure, the name "Strawberry" gave me the idea of it as a reddish pink. But NO, I was wrong. It's a very gorgeous fuchsia. Deep enough for Winter. The bright & bold also makes it great for Spring/Summer.

I used 2 coats + a top coat.

The colour is brightened my skin very nicely. It gives my hand a very youthful look but not OTT for someone in her 30s.

As much as I like my hair to be professionally coloured, I'm just a little too frugal to visit the salon every time I want to touch up my roots & cover my greys. The other day I went to get my usual Schwarzkopf hair colour products (either Brilliance or Live Salon Permanent), I saw this new Ultimate Colour Multi-Usage Permanent Colour Foam (Phew! quite a mouthful there) on the shelf. I decided to give it a go for a change.

The word multi-usage is what draw me to this product. It claims to be enough product for "regrowth application every 4 weeks for up to 6 months". That's like up to 6 times of root touch-ups. I would be happy just 2 times from 1 bottle. So, this sounds pretty good to me.

I picked the shade 400 Dark Brown as it's the closest one to my natural hair colour. And, it seems to be the closest one to the usual Schwazkopf hair colours I've used.

The foam applicator comes with 2 separate canisters. As you can see, there are 2 nozzles which pump out the 2 ingredients; one is a colour & one is a developer. When I squirted the foam out, I only saw very slight brown tint on one side. Well, it was more like white foam with a few streaks of light brown.

The thick foam was very easy to apply with no dripping at all. The mixture changed to a darker colour (more like what I expected) after leaving on my hair as instructed. Well, the process is pretty much like any other hair colouring products. The smell is not overpowering which is a good thing.

As it was the 1st time I used this products, I followed the full-head application & leave it for 30 minutes. I then rinsed off & conditioned as you normally do with an at-home hair colour. I have to say I was very disappointed with the result. It didn't cover any of my grey hair. What it did was slightly lightened my hair which makes the greys less obvious.

I still have the rest of the products. So, I will redo it again, maybe next week & see if the second application will give me a better result than the initial one.

I'll update you on that.
