I went to MAC counter at Smith & Caughey's on Queen Street for the Tartan Tale Collection launch day (November 8). I was expecting a BIG collection but what I saw was a small display stand. I was staring at the display and looking confused, I guess that's why one of girls came to ask if I need any help.

After a chit-chat with a Sales Assistant (or a "Makeup Artist" as they like to be called), she explained to me that the Lip, Eye & Face (and Nails) Kits will come out later in the month and up to Christmas. I felt relief. At least, I know they will be there, even if I wouldn't have any money to get them all.

Eyeshadows, on the other side, really caught my eyes right from the beginning. Look at how pretty they are! The colours are gorgeous & the plaid pattern is something quite unique. When I first saw them on the website. I thought these are you-gotta-buy them-right-now eyeshadows! So, I didn't waste any time and went straight to get some swatches. I like that they seemed to be bigger than normal size MAC eyeshadow (the same size as Mineralized Eyeshadows). I was a bit disappointed after I swatched them. The colours are not as pigmented as normal MAC shadows. Also, I thought that the plaid patterns will go all the way to the bottom of the pan, but they're not. So, I decided that I will skip the eyeshadows.  Phewww! I still have money in my pocket so far :P

Then, I moved on to the lip products. The colours didn't really stand out for me. Besides, I've recently just bought a few lip colours from the other collections. So, I was telling myself not to buy more. I did try on Cut-a-Caper & Courting Lilac. They are very similar to Aristo-Cat & Innocent Beware! that I already have but the two that I've got look much better with my complexion than these guys. The lipglasses are Dazzleglass Creme which is not my favourite kind of lipgloss. I found they're too gritty & glittery for me. Well, I thought I would give all the lip products a miss. Well done! Nancy.

Here comes the damage! What's really stood out from this little display are the Pearlglide Eyeliners. They come in 5 colours; Black Swan, Lord It Up, Petrol Blue, Undercurrent and Blackline. Before, I hit the counter I wanted to get Blackline & Undercurrent as they seemed to the nice ones to own.

It turned out Undercurrent is way too bright for me. Lord It Up is just a normal brown liner. Petrol Blue is a nice shade of blue but it's something I wouldn't wear often. So I was down to 2 different black eyeliners. I ended up get them both. They're simply just too gorgeous to miss :D

The main reason I bought these two is that I would definitely wear these colours on my daily basis. Blackline is kind of a black liner with dark khaki & gold shimmer to it. So so so pretty! Black Swan is also a black liner but with dark grey (charcoal) shimmer and I can see navy in some angels. Looks like black but with a twist to it. Something I don't often see liners have.

True to its name "pearlglide". The eyeliners have a super smooth texture. Glide on smoothly & easily. I didn't expect them to be that soft. They weren't so soft when I tried them on at the store. I guess because it's been exploded to the air too much & got harden.  I broke a tip of one of them. It was really really soft and I was putting too much pressure on when I tried it on at home when I came back.
Anyway, I was very happy walking away with my purchase (& I still am). Smart choice, Nancy! I walked pass the shop window the other day and saw that they have half of Eye, Lip, Face kits already. I popped in the store and ask about the prices. Oh my God! they are so dear. The cheapest ones are NZ$95. I'm not sure if I would spend that much money on ONE makeup product. The problem is the packaging is so tempting. I'll save up for a few week and go get one of the eyeshadow sets. My excuse is "They are Limited Edition, it's OK to get one" hehehehehe

If you haven't checked out MAC Tartan Tale Collection, go get some swatches on your hand or maybe get a Makeup Artist to try them on you. Treat yourself for this coming crazy season!
NOTE: I wasn't allowed to take any photos at Smith & Caughey's. I got some of the pics from the website.

It's been a delay to put this collection on my blog. Strangely enough, I've been pretty busy for the last few weeks that's unusual for someone who doesn't have a full time job!

Anyway, the 1st item I bought for this collection was a Cremesheen Lipstick in Innocent Beware. I got it on the launch day in New Zealand (October 4). It was the only item that caught my eyes when I saw the collection review on I was very pleased with the purchase. So ,a couple of weeks later, I went back to get some more.

I  only allowed myself to get one item from each villain (Cruella de Vil, Evil Queen, Maleficent & Dr. Facilier). After, looking at lots of reviews on beauty blogs and countless visits to MAC counter for swatches. It has came down to 3 products: a lipglass, a duo mineral eyeshadow and a newly launch product, liquid powder.

Innocent Beware! is a lovely pink nude lipstick from Cruella de Vil. Unlike other nude lipsticks which can wash out the colour on my face & make me look dead. This lipstick has a slight hint of peach which gives a really warm tone it. As a Cremesheen lipstick, it glides on very smooth. However, I need to make sure that my lips are well scrubbed and moisturized before apply this colour on (Well, I think it requires super smooth lips for almost all of nude lipsticks).

This is another lip product that I picked from this collection. A Lipglass in Strange Potion from Evil Queen. I also liked Devilishly Stylish from Cruella de Vil as it will go well with Innocent Beware that I already have. I bought this one because I haven't got any coral lipgloss in my collection. Strange Potion is a a soft coral pink with very light shimmer. I can wear this on its own or over Innocent Beware to make the nude lipstick even more wearable.

From Maleficent, I've got a Mineralize Duo Eyeshadow in She Who Dares. Half is a deep navy with blue shimmer and other half is a medium green with light green shimmer. I haven't got a chance to try out this duo yet but from the swatches they're very pigmented and have a very good staying power.

The last item is Magically Cool Liquid Powder. This is the only product that I told myself "you must get this". It's a totally brand new product from MAC which is launched with Venomous Villains. They were 2 shades to choose from. I went for a lighter shade of the two, Truth & Light. The girl who served me that I can use this as an everyday loose powder, whereas the darker shade is more like a bronzer or a powder for darker skin tone. As I already have quite a dark skin tone so I went for this one. What's amazing about this powder is that it gives a cool touch when applied it on my skin. I thought "Great! This would be perfect for the coming Summer". The powder goes on every sheer and the shimmery in the powder works well to brighten and highlight the skin.

When I first saw this Cool Liquid Powder, I thought it wouldn't work on my oily skin but I was wrong. The shimmer in the powder kind of blend and disappear into my skin. Gives a lovely dewy finish but doesn't make it shinny. However, I don't think I'll be using this powder as my everyday powder. It's a sold out item in NZ for this collection. I will use it sparingly until MAC puts this beautiful powder in their permanent line.

All the products I bought for this collection are limited edition and that's why I decided to get them at the first place. Even though, some of them are not particularly unique but with the pretty sleeky black packaging and nice drawing of the villains on the box, I thought they're just a nice collection to own.

Until next time....Be Beautiful!

I has always been a fan of Shiseido. Actually, all 3 of us (me, my mom & my sister) are a fan of Shiseido. It's kind of passed on from my mom. She was a Shiseido fanatic when she was in her 40s-50s. The 1st foundation my mom bought for me & it was also the 1st foundation I owned, was a Shiseido Pureness Matifying Compact Foundation. When I heard that ZA is a brand from Shiseido Group, I think "Great! Cheap makeup with Shiseido's quality".

I bought this lipsitck about a month ago when the store has a 15% off cosmetics for Labour Weekend Sale. I was there looking for a perfect nude lipstick for myself. I was browsing through the cosmetics section & started to getting tried of trying on so many lipsticks. Then I thought, I never own any ZA cosmetics. Why don't I go & check it out! I swatched some of the nude tones that they have but they weren't quite right for me. Just before I moved on to the next brand, my eyes caught on this shimmery pink colour. It's one of the Pumper Lips in 05 Innocent Rose.

I never really like pink lipsticks as I think they don't suit my complexion. What I like about this colour is that it has a nice shade of pink with warm undertone. It's not too pale or too bright. When I tried it on my lip, wow! the texture is so smooth, creamy & soft like butter. It also has sparkling shimmer glitters.

I think the shade of this lipstick looks similar to YSL Rouge Volupte Perle #101 Beige Caress. Only YSL one has a gritty texture from the glitters but ZA is very smooth. Innocent Rose has a hint of peach. It has a soft sweet smell which I like.

(All photos took in natural light)
The packaging is a shinny silvery pink with ZA logos all over the lid. It does remind me of Dior monogram. The case is in a slim shape which makes it look quite elegant & stylish at the same time. What I also like about the packaging is that the shinny case makes it very easy to find when I put it in the makeup case with other common black casing makeup.

Overall, I like this product a lot than I thought I would. It does on smoothly. The colour is very buildable & the staying power is good considering the very light & creamy texture. If you're looking for a new everyday lipstick, why don't you try this gorgeous pink on your lip to brighten up your look.

My Eyeko order arrived today. I've been waiting to try out their products. Eyeko is a London based cosmetic company. from their website, Eyeko means love in Japanese. Eyeko products are "Part Brit girl, part Tokyo cutie - Eyeko offers WOW products that define sweet London style".

In this order, I have a Posh Polish (for ladylike nails) - a creamy taupe shade. This is my most favourite of all the shades. It's a taupe with a hint of pink. Vintage Polish (for elegant nails) - a jade green hue. A nice shade of pastel green. You will need 3 coats for this one. This will look great for the coming Summer. Nude Polish (for perfect nails) - a creamy pinky-beige. Lovely colour but I found this colour is a little bit hard to apply. I need 3 coats for a smooth finish. Lilac Polish (for lovely nails) - a creamy pastel purple. A pretty lilac colour. I think it will look great on my toes.

Top - Bottom: Posh Polish, Nude Polish, Vintage Polish, Lilac Polish.

Chi chi Polish (for girlie nails) - a pink glitters in clear baby pink polish. This one is pretty on its own, but I think it will great over any plain polish to add some sparkles. Indigo Polish (for sultry nails) - a shimmery midnight blue. Nothing special about this one. I've seen this kid of colour before but it's nice if you haven't got this shade. Cosmic Polish (for space age nails) - a midnight black with multi-coloured glitters. I like this one a lot. The colourful glitters make the black look so different.

Top - Bottom: Cosmic Polish, Chi Chi Polish, Indigo Polish, Lilac Polish

What I like about these nail polish is that the price is very reasonable. US$5.50 per bottle (approx. NZ$9)& US$21 (approx. NZ$35) for a sets of 5 (I bought a Cult Classic set). Also, I like the size of the bottle. I think it's a really good size. Smaller & cheaper means I can buy more!  My overall opinion is 4 out of 5 as some of the colours are quite hard to apply. Other than that, I think Eyeko is a good affordable brand.  I will try out more of their products very soon.
